Hertz Freerider
One of my school projects at Hyper Island involved working with prototyping. My team and I got the car rental company Hertz as our client. More specifically we were to work on their Hertz Freerider initiative. It works like this: If someone rents a car oneway from Sundsvall to Stockholm the car needs to get back to the original rental place in Sundsvall. If no one drives it back, it will have to stay there until more cars need to go back in that area and will be transported with a truck to the original rental places. It's a very ineffective way that costs Hertz a lot of time and money. Instead, Hertz made the solution that another person who is thinking of going from Stockholm to Sundsvall can drive it for free making it a win-win solution. The service launched in 2005 and sadly hadn't been upgraded since. Our brief involved revamping the service, giving it all-new features, looks, and aims. This involved a fair amount of user interviews, looking at existing data to draw insights, research, and user testing. Hertz was so happy with the result that they started to implement our changes right away.
On this project, I worked on developing the concept for the service as well as prototyping the UX/UI.
